HARRIER ACTIVITIES

MASTERTON CLUB. (Notes by “Idle Along.”) The attendance at the Masterton Harrier Club’s race on Saturday was disappointing and unless every runner does his best next Saturday, the club will go very close to losing the coveted Sanders Cup.

C. Ross is striking form, but has not been seen out training yet. I would remind him that the Jubilee Cup xace will be run early this year. J. Baikie will be certain to record good points next Saturday in the Shaw Rose Bowl competition.

M. Sellar has been training seriously and should run well for the club. He should not go too far to the front in the first lap.

The club captain, R. Gully, is taking training seriously and should team well on Saturday.

The juniors held their first handicap race on Saturday and P. Greenlees is to be congratulated on his success. Greenlees has a great style. After a season or two he will be up with the best of the club.

R. Reynolds is running very well and will be hard to beat in the junior championship later in the season. D. and K. Cairns were triers all the way, while F. Knott and P. Scandrett ran good races, although they were not in the picture at the finish. The club will compete against Napier at Dannevirke for the Southerwood trophy, held by the Masterton Club.
