TIRAUMEA
FAREWELL PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) Recently Mr and Mrs J. H. MacKenzie and their small daughter, who are leaving the district, were given a farewell party, at the Tiraumea Hall. Mr MacKenzie, who has been a resident in the district for several years, is taking up a position as manager of a farm near Masterton. The gathering, which took the form of a euchre party and dance, was largely attended and provided an opportunity for Mr and Mrs MacKenzie’s friends to farewell them in a fitting manner. The president of the Tiraumea branch of the W.D.F.U., Mrs R. J. Harman, presented Mrs MacKenzie, who has been an active member, with a mirror as a token of the esteem in which she had been held by the members, and, in a short speech, hoped that she would not completely sever her associations with Tiraumea. On behalf of the residents of the district Mr' C. Raleigh presented Mr MacKenzie with an ornamental standard reading lamp and in a short and humorous speech traced Mr McKenzie’s connection with Tiraumea over the last few years. < Mr MacKenzie replied on behalf of his wife and himself and thanked the people for their gifts and for the honour extended to them that night. Mr and Mrs McKenzie will leave Tiraumea this week to take up their new position.
