An unusual inquiry Which probably is without precedent in the history of the New Zealand turf, will be held on Tuesday evening next by the Auckland District Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference. It is alleged that an attempt was made by an outside person to bribe a jockey, P. Burgess, to pull Suleiman in tne Waihou Handicap, on the first day of the Te Aroha Jockey Club's annual meeting in February last. Llangollen, the favourite, had won the Herries! Memorial Cup earlier in the day, and Sulieman was macle favourite for the Waihou Handicap, of six furlongs, the chief open sprint, which formed the second “leg” of a double. Suleiman won. An inquiry is being held as a result of a statement made to racing officials.
