Judgment for" defendant was given in the Supreme Court today in a case in which Miss Susan Biggs claimed £5OOO general and £62 16s special damages against George .Edward Woodhead. driver of a lorry, with which a car she was a passenger in collided near Okaiawa on October 13. Compound fracture of the skull and injuries which necessitated the amputation of her left arm, were received by Miss Biggs. The defence was a denial of negligence on the part of Woodhead in backing his lorry across the road in face of oncoming traffic and an assertion that the accident was caused rather by the speed of the car in which plaintiff was travelling and negligence on the part of its driver.
