STATE THEATRE
CHANGE OF MANAGERS. MR SOLON LEAVING FOR THAMES. ‘
Mr L. A. Solon, manager of the State Theatre, leaves Masterton tomorrow on transfer to the managership of the King’s Theatre, Thames. He is succeeded in Masterton by Mr Lionel R. Leary, transferred from the State Theatre, New Plymouth.
Mr Solon has been manager of the State Theatre for a little over a year, coming here from Dargaville. In that time he has proved a popular and efficient manager and at various farewell gatherings this week, friends and business associates have expressed their regret at his departure.
His successor, Mr Leary, comes to Masterton after extensive theatre experience in Australia and New Zealand. A Tasmanian by birth, he commenced his theatre associations in Hobart and spent some years in the show business in Melbourne. Prior to going to New Plymouth a year ago, Mr Leary was associated with the Fuller-Hay-ward chain at Nelson and Hamilton. He takes over his new duties on Monday.
