QUEEN MARY
MAKING GOOD PROGRESS BUT STILL FEELING EFFECT OF ACCIDENT. NO DAMAGE TO BONES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 24. The following official medical report was issued from Marlborough House tonight:— Queen Mary’s progress is taking a satisfactory course, though stiffness and pain are troublesome. An Xray examination excludes any damage to bones. The condition of the injured eye is improving. An earlier bulletin stated that Queen Mary passed a restless night, partly due to an injury to the left eye, which, though painful, was causing no anxiety. The patient’s condition was satisfactory. , Sir Richard Cruise, surgeon oculist to Queen Mary, paid her a visit last night and again this morning. NEW ZEALAND SYMPATHY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Deep sympathy with the Queen Mother in her accident and heartfelt wishes for ner speedy and complete recovery were expressed in a motion carried unanimously at the Empire Day celebration of the English Folk Association. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral is to be asked to transmit the message to Queen Mary.
BETTER NIGHT FURTHER IMPROVEMENT SHOWN. QUEEN WRITES TO LORRY DRIVER. LONDON. May 25. It is officially stated that Queen Mary had a good night. Her eye is more comfortable and her general condition is improving. Queen Mary sent a letter to the lorry driver involved in the accident, thanking him for the flowers and the note which he sent her hoping for her speedy recovery. Queen Mary’s letter added that she hoped the driver was none the worse for his experience. The Duke of Windsor frequently telephones from France and hundreds of cable continue to arrive at Marlborough House from all over the Empire, including repeated messages from the King and Queen in Canada.
