HARRIER ACTIVITIES

MASTERTON CLUB. (Notes by “Idle Along”) The five mile sealed handicap last Saturday did not reveal the club’s real strength, as many runners were either “non-triers” or only lasted one lap. The handicap winner, C. K. Long has been seen out training four nights a week lately. All members are urged to follow this example. A. Andrew ran a great race, but is advised to take it easy for a while, as many' new runners have faded out after a season of nard racing. W. Pullar showed his superiority by leading the field home in a well-timed race.

G. Gregory, who filled second place, is coming into form, and will be hard to beat on June' 3—Sanders’ Cup Day. G. Wickens and R. Wyeth are easily adapting themselves to the conditions of cross-country running.

H. Carle is not fit yet,, and with more training should make his presence felt among the winning team in the near future.

Good races were run by C. Orr and K. Forrest, and it is pleasing to see these two members out training.

Training nights are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, at 5 p.m. from the Park Oval; and all members are requested to attend. Members are reminded that a seven miles easy training run will be., held over the golf links’ track on Saturday afternoon. A full attendance of members is requested in view of the fact that the following Saturday there will take place the Sanders Cup race against the Hutt Valley Club.
