RUGBY UNION
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET. REPRESENTATIVE GAMES ARRANGED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union was held in the P. and A. Board room, Carterton, last evening, Mr H. A. McPhee presiding over the following members of the Management Committee: Messrs S. Henson. M. Parker, E. B. Booth, K. Reid, C. A. Gray, K. G. Fairbrother, V. Welch and L. Pearson. An apology for absence was received from Mi’ H. J. Benge. .The treasurer reported a credit balance at the Bank of £lO5 17s and at the Post Office of £3 6s Id. Accounts passed for payment totalled £lO 16s sd, leaving a credit balance at the Bank after the meeting of £9B 6s Bd. G. Stubbs and A. Pinfold were granted transfers from the Carterton Club to Wairarapa College, the latter subject to his clearance being produced. M. B. Hargood was granted his clearance from Opaki to the Masterton Club; J. Cross from Carterton to the Featherston thirds. The Martinborough Club wrote asking that P. Smith be reinstated from senior to junior grade—granted; G. Braggins was granted a reinstatement from Carterton juniors to third grade. J. R. Gardiner’s reinstatement from the League code to Rugby was granted by the N.Z.R.F.U. Two players were declared on the accident fund of the Union. A Rugby supporter wrote enclosing an art union ticket in the next one drawn and wishing the Union success in the prize list. —Received with thanks. The Red Star Football Club wrote apologising for the behaviour of a player in a third grade match. Several clubs wrote forwarding the insurance fees of players.
SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. The Marlborough Rugby Union wrote confirming the fixture with Wairarapa on Saturday, June 17, at Masterton. The team will leave Wellington on Friday, June 16 and stay in Masterton until Monday, June 19. The Hawke’s Bay Union wrote confirming the playing of home and home matches. Mr Keith Reid was appointed manager of the Wairarapa team which will travel to Napiei’ and play on King’s Birthday, June 5. JUNIOR REP. MATCH. The junior representative match, Wairarapa v. Hawke’s Bay, will be played at Masterton on King’s Birthday. The entertainment of the team was left to Messrs L. Henson and C. A. Gray. It was resolved that the charge for admission be Is gate, 6d stand. Mr E. Grantham was appointed referee. It was resolved that Saturday week be set aside for inspection day, when all boots will be inspected, and those not passing the test will be prohibited. This is in regard to sprigs, etc. It was decided that free passes be issued to secondary school boys.
FOURTH GRADE FIXTURES. The following fixtures were drawn up for the first round in connection with the fourth grade:— May 27: Carterton v. Masterton, at Masterton, No. 1 ground Memorial Park, at 1.30 p.m.; Martinborough v. Featherston, at Martinborough; College a bye. June 3: Carterton v. College, at Carterton; Masterton v. Martinborough, at Martinborough; Featherston a bye. June 5: Carterton v. Featherston, at Masterton; College v. Masterton, at Masterton; Martinborough a bye. June 10: Carterton v. Martinborough, at Martinborough; College v. Featherston, at Featherston; Masterton a bye. June 24: College v. Martinborough, at Martinborough; Featherston v. Masterton, at Masterton; Carterton a bye.
