BLUE PETER WINS LIKE A CHAMPION CHALLENGE BY FOX CUB STALLED OFF. TWENTY-SEVEN HORSES START. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Received This Day. 9 a.m.) LONDON. May 24. The Derby resulted: — Blue Peter (E. Smith) 1 Fox Cub (G. Richards) 2 Heliopolis (R. Perryman) 3 Twenty-seven horses started. Roderick Dhu and Snowcap were scratched. Won by four lengths, with three lengths between second and third horses. Time 2.36 4-5. Heliopolis shot out but was soon overtaken by Larchfield, who led to the mile post, where Fox Cub. Hypnotist and Casanova were moving up. Blue Peter made a great effort and went to the lead at Tattenham Corner. He was cleay at the distance and stalled off Fox Cub's run. to win like a champion.
More than three thousand saw the Derby through television at West End cinemas.
