FRIESIAN RECORDS
PERFORMANCES IN 1938. A Friesian cow belonging to Mr C. A. Knutson, of Dalefield, secured second place in the Friesian Derby contest for 1938 with 673.381 b fat. The cow concerned was Ahikouka Colantha Fobes and her return was 144.4 per cent above the standard. During 1938 nine cows produced over 2000 gallons of milk, making a total number of 248 such records for the breed to date. Four Friesians produced over 1001 b fat in a month during 1938 making a total of 113 occasions in which Friesian cows have now produced over 1001 b fat in a month under C.O.R. Test. The outstanding performances of 1938 were those of (a) Oakview Keyes Trojan, whose yield of 22,146.81 b milk and 836.981 b fat are easily new records for milk and butterfat production for junior two-year-old Friesian heifers in New Zealand, (b) Moneville Sylvia Posch Mercena, whose record of 1000,481b fat is the eight 10001 b record made by'Friesians in New Zealand, (c) Ohio Domino Sensation, whose yield of 965.541 b fat is the highest record yet made by any cow under official test in Southland.
