WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION COMPETITIONS. DRAW FOR A & B GRADE. The following is the complete draw for the Wairarapa Badminton Association’s A and B grade inter-club competitions. The matches are to be played by the date stated and on the courts of the club mentioned first in each instance:— A GRADE. June 1: Masterton A v. Regent; Nomads v. Martinborough; Masterton B a bye. June 12: Martinborough v. Masterton A; Masterton E v. Nomads; Regent a bye. June 22: Masterton B v. Regent; Nomads v. Masterton. A; Martinborough a bye. July 3: Martinborough v. Masterton B; Nomads v. Regent; Masterion A a bye. July 13: Masterton B v. Masterton A; Martinborough v. Regent; Nomads a bye. B GRADE. June 1: St. Matthew’s A v. Methodist B; Nomads A v. Regent; Martinborough v. St. Matthew’s B; Methodist A v. Red Star; Hugos v. Nomads B. .June 10: St. Matthew’s A v. Regent; Nomads A v. Methodist B; Methodist A v. St. Matthew’s B; Hugo’s v. CONDITIONS OF PLAY. 1. Detailed results, must be forwarded to the secretary of the Wairarapa Badminton Association (C. J. Carle, C/o “Wairarapa Times-Age”) immediately after each match. 2. The visiting team provides shuttles, the home team the court or courts. 3. The rounds must be played by the time stated; each club must communicate direct with its opponents. Any club responsible for failure to play the match in the required time shall lose by default. 4. The A* grade teams shall consist of 4 men and 4 women, 8 games being played as follows: —Two men’s doubles, 3 sets of 15 up; 2 women’s doubles. 3 sets of 11 up; 4 combined doubles, 3 sets of 15 up. B .jtacte teams shall consist of 4 men and 4 women, 8 games being played as follows: —Two men’s doubles of 21 up; 2 ladies’ doubles of 15 up; 4 combined doubles of 21 up. 5. Where a club has two teams in one grade, no player in team A shall be allowed to play more than once in team B, any team offending will be liable to disqualification. Application must be lodged with the secretary, if a club has cause to play a player in the A team, twice in the B, prior to the match being played. 6. In the event of a draw, the decision will rest on points; the rules of the New Zealand Badminton Federation to be adhered to, also local rules as agreed by mutual arrangement between the two captains. Points to count: A win, 2 points; a draw, 1 point. OPEN TOURNAMENTS. The Wairarapa Badminton Association’s annual open tournament will be held in Masterton from July 26 to 29. The New Zealand Federation announces that the New Zealand cham-
pionships have been allocated to the Taranaki Association, to be played at the Coronation Hall, New Plymouth, from August 23 to 26. VISIT TO PAHIATUA. Messrs P. Hawksworth (New Zealand singles, men’s doubles, combined doubles championship title holder) and J. J. Payton (Wairarapa men’s doubles and combined doubles championship holder) will visit Pahiatua tonight to play an exhibition singles match at the grand opening night of the Pahiatua Badminton Club. They will be accompanied by the secretary of the Wairarapa Association. The Pahiatua Club has a membership of fifty, 3 courts and the most suitable hall in the Wairarapa district.
