OPTIMISTS’ CLUB
WEEKLY MEETING. INTERESTING TRAVEL TALK. Chief Smiler A. Handyside occupied the chair last night at the weekly meeting of the Optimists’ Club in the Y.M.C.A., and there were also present 17 members and three visitors. A very warm welcome was extended to the Rev. T. V. Pearson, who is to act as the club’s padre. Optimist C. Greagor brought greetings from Optimist M. Rogers, of Wellington, and also Optimist J. White, of Wellington Y.M.C.A., who is N.Z. Secretary of the Optimists. Following tea, several business matters were dealt with.
Mr I. I. McGregor, formerly postmaster at Masterton, was introduced, and spoke on his recent trip overseas. His remarks were followed with very close interest. Mr McGregor agreed to pay a return visit to the club later in the season and continue his interesting talk.
