Two Rotorua residents, Mr R. Knight and Mr L. Hodges, had an unusual experience when their trailer, containing dogs and shooting equipment, caught fire in the vicinity of Drury when they were returning to Rotorua from a trip to the north. A passing motorist informed Mr Knight that the trailer was on fire, and on examination it was found that the sacks for the dogs were well alight, as also was a spare motor tube. Apparently a cigarette had been thrown from a passing car and had been blown into the trailer, setting the sacks on fire. No damage was done to the trailer, but one of the dogs was slightly singed.
