MASTERTON CLUB GAMES COMMENT ON PLAY. GOOD SCORES BY YOUNGER PLAYERS. (By “Handicapper.”) The conditions of play on the Lansdowne Links on Saturday were perfect. Although some of the greens were tricky some very good scores were made by the younger players, who were again in the fore. Horton Junr, after having his handicap reduced the previous week again won the the competition, and has had his handicap further reduced to 7—5. J. Donald, Bideford, played well for his first game this season to card 71. Cyril Torr was also right on top of his game, carding three 71 ’s for the weekend. He is now on reduced handicap. Eric Henderson, on the 4 mark, and R. G. Mackie and C. R. Judd, both on the 11 mark, all played well to their handicap. Henderson and Mackie are both playing most consistently this season and it should not be long before thev both justify a reduction in handicap'. F. B. Tatham is also improving and will be heard of in the near future. N. H.' James deserved his previous week’s handicap reduction, finishing with 74.

In the B grade three members who have been playing well have been moved to the A grade —J. G. Bee, L. T. Daniell and G. R. Booth. WILSON CUP. Now that the club has so many low markers it might be well to consider challenging Palmerston North for the Wilson Cup in the near future. The writer would suggest that the following members do some solid practice as it is quite possible that 12 members could be selected for a challenge match:—J. P. Hornabrook, T. H. Horton, R. B. Cameron, H. L. Esau, E. Henderson, C. Campbell-Heard, B. Kiernan, R. Plummer, C. Torr,, F. B. Tatham. R. Boys, N. F. Blundell, John Boom, T. Horton Junr, A. Saunders, E. B. Booth, C. Faulknor and G. Falloon. Next Saturday members are reminded that a fourball bogey competition will be played. Members are asked to arrange their own partners and opponents. SATURDAY’S GAMES.
