NEW ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL IN WELLINGTON DUKE OF KENT ASKED TO LAY FOUNDATION STONE. ANNOUNCEMENT BY BISHOP HOLLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. It is hoped that the foundation stone of the new Anglican Cathedral in Wellington will be laid by the Duke of Kent during the third week in November, 1940. This announcement was made by Bishop Holland, who said he had been in communication, by letter, with the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, with a view to his Royal Highness performing the ceremony on his visit to the Dominion, with the Duchess of Kent. Mr Savage had replied that the request would be submitted to his Royal Highness, with a recommendation that the laying of the foundation stone of the cathedral be one of the functions he will perform in New Zealand.
