PERSONAL
The Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, left Wellington for the Waikato district by the Limited express last night. Mr T. W. Franks, formerly of the Masterton Post Office staff, and now stationed at Matiere, has been transferred to the Chief Post Office, Wellington.
The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Marine, left Bluff yesterday in the Government steamer Matai for a tour of inspection of southern lighthouses. He expects to return to Wellington toward the end of the month. At last night’s meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association, a motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mr J. T. Dagg, at one time a tower of strength to the association, and with Mr W. Brady in the loss of his son.
A distinguished official of the Salvation Army wil pay a visit to Masterton at the week-end, in the person of Lt.Colonel Grattan, who is the chief secretary for the Army’s work in New Zealand. During his stay in Masterton he will be the guest of Major and Mrs Ericson, of the Whatman Home. Reference to Mr E. H. Doherty’s long association as a reporter with the Masterton A. and P. Association was made at last night’s meeting by the president, Mr P. R. Welch, Mr J. M. James and others and the hope was expressed that success would attend Mr Doherty in his new position in Sydney.
Mr C. R. ’Edmond, General Manager of Todd Motors. Ltd., will leave on Tuesday for a business trip to England, Canada and U.S.A. Whilst in England Mr Edmond will visit the Humber-Hillman factory and in Canada and U.S.A, the Chrysler factories. Mr Edmond will be accompanied by Mrs Edmond.
