COMPLETION OF FURTHER CONTRACTS WITH PRIVATE HOSPITALS & NURSES. MEDICAL MEN HOLDING ALOOF. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Additions to the list published last Saturday of those who have completed contracts to provide 1 maternity services under the Social Security Act were announced last evening by the Department of Health. Sixteen names have been added to the list of private maternity hospitals and 17 names to the list of obstetric nurses. No doctors’ names appear on the supplementary list. Details of the additions are as follows: — Private Maternity Hospitals.—One in Morrinsville, Wairoa, Wanganui, Pahiatua, Motueka, Murchison, Waimate, Denniston and Wellington; two in Gisborne and Balclutha; three in Te Aroha. Obstetric Nurses.—One in Remuera, Mission Bay, Te Awamutu, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Foxton, Patea, Wanganui, Timaru, Mosgiel and Christchurch; two in Grey Lynn, Levin, Lower Hutt. “It is worthy of note that every private maternity hospital in both the Taranaki and Wellington health districts is now included in the list of hospitals that have signed the contract,” states the department. “Particulars are being circulated to post offices for addition to lists. “While it is yet too early to expect any volume of claims, arrangements have been completed in the various districts to ensure expeditious ' payment, and obstetric nurses and licensees of private hospitals are in a position to receive payment from the fund promptly after conclusion of services rendered in relation to benefits. Consideration has also been given to representations made on behalf of obstetric nurses who attend patients on ,a visiting basis, and it has been decided that as from May 18, 1939, the sum of 5s a day will be paid for each of the 14 days subsequent to the date of the birth of the child (instead of 5s a day for the three days and 2s 6 ( d a day for 11 days). ■
