The' Hukanui Hall was filled to capacity when the tennis players held a dance in honour of winning the Badger Cup. The music was provided by an orchestra, extras being played by Miss Day. After supper was served, Mr Vern. Brown presented the trophy on behalf of the Badger Cup Committee to the Hukanui tennis players, Mr W. Hirst suitably replying. . Novelty dances were won by Miss Mabey and partner and Mr Webb and partner. Among those present were Mesdames Lemberg, rose crepe; C. Udy, floral sheer; Morgan, black silk velvet; H. Udy, clover; J. Sutherland, green and gold shot lame; M. England, floral organza; N. Mabey, floral; H. Gardiner, embossed satin; Misses A. Lawrence, pink taffeta; J. Wenham, pink floral organza; N. Udy, floral; J. Udy, gold georgette; J. Mabey, black velvet; Q. Harrington, floral chiffon; J. Sorensen, primrose chiffon; B. Harrington, white drop stitch voile; N. Harrington, turquoise chiffon; D. Day, scarlet net; N. Webb, white floral organza; J. Ebbett, clover; M. Mabey, black velvet; F. Reeves, floral; L. Clapperton, blue taffeta; E. Groves, red taffeta.

KAIPARORO RIFLE CLUB. TROPHY WON BY C. WELCH. Rifle shooting at Kaiparoro on. Saturday was fired over the 500 and 600 yards ranges to commence a trophy donated by Mr F. Schormann. Rifleman C. Welch is leading with a score of 96 points. The scores were as fol-

Hill Hogget Competition. The hill hogget competition, shorn and unshorn, conducted under the auspices of the Pahiatua branch of the Farmers’ Union, resulted: — Shorn: J. P. Tylee, 1 and 2; H. H. Miller, 3; 12 entries. In the wool:-F. S. Heckler, 1; W. S. Heckler, 2; six entries. There was no third award. ,The judge, Mr J. J. G. Buchanan, Waitahora, commented very favourably on the fine display, the winning pens being outstandingly good. Some of the entries, said Mr Buchanan, showed the effects of the recent spell of dry weather. After the judging was over the judge gave a criticism of each individual pen and answered a number of questions. The president of the branch (Mr T. F. Anderson) congratulated the winners on their success, the judge for kindly officiating, the associated auctioneers for the use of their yards, and the donors of prize money, Messrs J. E. Hewitt, J. P. Tylee and E. S, Heckler. The competitions created a good deal of interest. Euchre Party and Dance. An enjoyable euchre and dance was held in the Kakariki schoolroom. The winners of the euchre were:—Ladies, Mrs W. Webb, 1; Miss L. Clapperton, 2; men. Mr W. H. Welsh, 1; Mr T. Matson, 2. Personal. Mr A. H. Wright has sold his farm at Atea to Mr S. Goss and has, with Mrs Wright, taken up his residence at Parkville. Football Teams for Tomorrow. j The following is the Eketahuna senior team to play Marima at the Alfredton Road Domain at 2 p.m. on Saturday:—Wairaihana, Houseman, Ngateure, Low, E. Mason, J. Pickering, R. Gordon,Wattereus, Lobban, J. Mitchell, Failover, J. Ryan, Norris, Reynolds, Carroll, Fauvel, Oliver, Harrison, Fafeita, Bouzaid. The players are asked to assemble at 1.30 p.m. The Eketahuna third grade team to play Nireaha at Nireaha at 1.30 p.m. will be selected from the following:— Anderson. Olsen, Ramsay, Evans, Ryan (2). Braddick, Neilson. Curry, Steer (2), Kewley, Fafeita, Judd, Payne, Boney, Morrison. The players are requested to be at the Municipal Hall at 1 p.m.
