POPE PIUS ENTHRONED OLD CEREMONY REVIVED. AFTER BEING IN ABEYANCE FOR NINETY YEARS. (Independent Cable Service.) (Received This Day. 9.5 a.m.) ROME, May 18. Pope Pius XII was enthroned as Bishop of Rome, thus reviving a ceremony which had been in abeyance for
ninety years. Emerging from the confines of the Vatican, he drove through thronged and beflagged streets to the Basilica of Saint John Lateran and celebrated pontifical mass. Later he blessed the crowds from the balcony.
