BIG ADDITIONS MADE TO TONNAGE. NUMEROUS NEW WARSHIPS IN BALTIC. Uy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) MOSCOW, May 17. At the conclusion of a week’s manoeuvres of the Baltic fleet off Kronstadt, it was announced that numerous new warships of undisclosed tonnage and class, completed during the past winter, had participated, and that the new tonnage of the five Soviet fleets — Northern, Baltic, Black Sea, Pacific, and River —launched in 1938 exceeded by 400 per cent the maximum tonnage constructed in any of the previous five years.
