FARMERS’ CONFERENCE

■ GATHERING IN MASTERTON NEXT WEEK. Delegates from the Wanganui, Southern Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Wairarapa, Wellington Central and Makara-Hutt provincial districts of the Farmers’ Union will attend the annual inter-provincial conference to be held at the Masonic Hall, Masterton, next Thursday and Friday, May 25 and 26. It is expected that there will be about 120 delegates in attendance. The conference chairman will be Mr Lloyd Hammond, provincial president. The conference will be opened at 9 a.m. on Thursday with prayer by the Rev John Davie and an official welcome by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan. Altogether there are 53 remits for the consideration of the conference; embracing all phases of farming activity. A smoke concert will be held on Thursday night.

Through the courtesy of Mrs E. H. Dagg, 1 Wairarapa provincial president of the Women’s Division, members of the conference will be entertained at afternoon tea on both days of the proceedings. An invitation is extended to farmers interested in the conference to attend same as visitors.
