YOUNG INDIAN ACTOR
TO HAVE VOICE TRAINED. Sabu, the young Indian actor, who will shortly co-star with Jon Hall in Alexander Korda’s “The Thief of Bagdad,” .has begun the development of his natural singing voice under the tutelage of Topliss, England’s most famous baritone. The youngster will sing two songs in the new film, thus fulfilling an expressed wish during his recent visit to America that he be allowed to exercise what he thinks is one of his talents.
Sabu paid his first visit to America in connection with the. release of his last picture, “The Drum,” in which he portrayed an Indian prince. '‘The Thief of Bagdad” will be the actor’s third picture under the Korda banner, and it will be photographed entirely in colour. Jon Hall played a leading role as the heroic “Terangi,” native South Sea Island youth, in Samuel Goldwyn’s success of last season, “The Hurricane.” The cast of “The Thief of Bagdad” also includes Vivien Leigh and Conrad Veidt.
