FEATHERSTON
NEW FIRE ENGINE. ENTERPRISE OF BRIGADESMEN. ; ("Times-Age” Special.) The enterprising members of the Featherston Volunteer Fire Brigadenave been diligently working on a motor car which they purchased some months ago. Realising that the present engine was totally inadequate to cope with the work which was expected of it, the brigadesmen thought they would try their skill in converting the car into a first-class engine. This they have succeeded in doing. A trial run was held, the performance being highly satisfactory. It is hoped that the machine will be on the road by June l. These young men are to be heartily congratulated on their achievement, as they have worked conscientiously, giving up their recreation hours for this object. Several public spirited citizens have already shown their appreciation by giving donations towards the assembly of the engine, and many more will be forthcoming when it is realised what a big asset to the community this is.
It is believed that this is the first fire engine to be assembled in such a manner —quite a creditable achievement. Well done Featherston! MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. COMPETITION RESULTS.
