Charles Backman, a Swedish .aviator aged 25, hopped off on a flight to to Sweden in a 90 horse-power monoplane, the smallest machine ever to attempt to cross the Atlantic. Backman has sufficient fuel for 45 hours in the air and hopes to reach his ejestination travelling at 100 miles an hour.
