JEWISH FEARS

REGARDING PALESTINE POLICY GREAT PROTEST PLANNED IN BRITAIN. » CHARGE OF THE VIOLATION OF PLEDGES. ■ By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, May 16. The Jerusalem correspondent of “The Times” says that the Jewish National Council is leading the Jewish community there in planning a protest throughout the country, including public meetings and a general strike, when the British Government’s policy is announced. The Chief Rabbi, Isaac Herzog, in an interview today, expressed the conviction that people in England did not appreciate what was at stake. He added that it was not merely that great pledges were about to be violated or that another national trust was about to be disowned. Something more terrible was involved, inasmuch as a movement unique among the movements for human freedom would be extirpated, depriving a small people who had been struggling for survival against overwhelming odds of the hope maintained for 2000 years,, though they were dispersed in every quarter of the globe. “They will be handed over to those who do not conceal their determination to destroy that hope,” concluded the Rabbi.
