BADMINTON MATCH

ST MATTHEWS v METHODIST. AN ENJOYABLE GATHERING. Last evening the Methodist Church and St Matthew’s Church Badminton clubs met in a series of enjoyable games at the Methodist court. Friendly matches were played, the games with one or two exceptions being very closely contested, several going to advantage. The fact that both teams had some of their principal players absent made the matches interesting and close, St Matthew’s eventually winning by 7 matches to 5, or 205 points to 180. The ladies of the Methodist Club supplied a very tasty supper, and were heartily thanked, for then’ kindness. An invitation to pay a return .visit was accepted, and St Matthew’s Club members are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to repay the hospitality. The results of ,the games played were as follows (Methodist players being mentioned first in each instance): Menis doubles: Greenwood and Brader beat .Carle and Doggett 21/14; Volheim and Handyside beat Harrington and Heenan 25/20; Davies and Hoar lost to Flaws and Cameron 9/21. Ladies doubles: Misses L>. Cocker and N. Cocker lost to Misses Richards and Yates 0/15; Misses Watkins and Copp lost to Misses Armstrong and Hatch 11/15; Misses D. Jamieson and J. Hoar beat Misses Baird and Feast 15/1.

Combined doubles: Miss L. Cocker and Greenwood lost to Miss Richards and Carle 5/21; Miss D .Jamieson and Brader lost to Miss Yates and Doggett 22/2?; Miss Watkins and Volheim lost to Miss Armstrong and Harrington 18/21; Miss D. .Copp and Handyside beat Miss Hatch and Heenan 21/13; Miss N. Cocker and Davies lost to Miss Baird and Cameron 12/21; IVliss J. Hoar and Hoar beat Miss Feast and Flaws 21/18.
