PERSONAL ITEMS

Miss E. Langdon. Tinui, is visiting Napier. Mr and Mrs J. Laing, Wainuioru, left .yesterday on a visit., to Auckland. Misses M. and J. Donald are Masterton. visitors to Auckland.

Mesdamos N. C. C. Shepherd and H. Lawson, of Featherston, who were visitors to Auckland, have returned home. Mrs Bert Adams, of Pahiatua, has left on a visit to Sydney and Melbourne.

Mr and Mrs John Andrew, who have been visiting the South Island, have returned to Whareama.-

Miss Patty Van Praagh, Essex Street, Masterton, has gone to New Plymouth, to stay with her sister Mrs Murfitt.

Mrs Dodds, Gladstone. is staying with her mother Mrs McCaUll. Day’s Bay, Wellington.

Miss M. Wiggins,' and Miss J. Sellar, Renall Street, Masterton. are spending a week in Napier. Mr and Mrs Mills, Eastbourne, spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs A. Bennett, Renall Street, Masterton. The Misses Cameron, Cole Street, Masterton, are spending a few days with Mrs D. Cameron, “Moeraki,” Hinakura.

Mrs W. Bullock, Wellington, is spending a few days in Masterton and is the guest of the Misses Brown, Church Street. Mr and Mrs W. J. Gray, Albert Street, Masterton, who will shortly leave New Zealand for Africa, where Mr Gray has accepted a position as veterinary surgeon in Tanganyika, gave a delightful party at their home on a recent evening. Friends gathered to wish them well in their new home and the occasion was also the second birthday of their son, Malcolm. Lovely autumn flowers and leaves lent added colour and during the evening the guests danced, played -games and took part in competitions. Elocutionary items were given by Mrs Noel Ledley. Mrs Gray received the guests wearing a tunic of silver over midnight blue lace. A feature of the dainty supper table was the birthday cake made and iced by Mrs Gray, in the form of a country cottage with terraced garden, trees and paths. Mr and Mrs Gray will leave New Zealand early in August.
