FASHION HINTS

THE LATEST SENSATION. The new fashion in nightgowns is the gown with Victorian modesty, with a high neck and long sleeves. The way a Paris dress-designer envelops himself in secrecy is extraordinary. Some have even private detectives standing outside the doors of their workrooms to keep away spies. Clothes should be designed to help a woman. When a woman walks into a room it is better that people say, “What a marvellous woman!” Not "What a marvellous dress!” Simplicity is always the aim of the great dressmaker in dress-designing. Nightcaps are the latest sensation. They look nothing like the ones that grandma wore, but are made to resemble baby bonnets. They are trimmed with marabou, ostrich fur, and lace ruffles, and they are supposed to keep the coiffure in place. One of them is made of pastel pink net, tied under the chin with satin ribbons, and with pink Alencon lace ruffles framing the face.
