MOTOR NATALITY
CAR CRASHES INTO POST. MEMBER OF AIR FORCE KILLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 16. Two members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force stationed at Wigram suffered serious head injuries, one dying later, when a car in which they were travelling struck a post in Riccarton Road about 7.30 tonight. They were: Alexander Calder, 6 Harris Street, Waimate, who died in hospital. William Patterson, 90 Lincoln Road. Christchurch. They were coming into the city in a small sedan and the car ran off the road, travelling with the wheels in a channel till it struck a post between Konini and Puriri Streets. The injured men were taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by the St John Ambulance. Mr Calder died at 11.40 p.m. and Mr Patterson’s condition is serious.
