GREYTOWN BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL
CLOSING ORDERS AGREED TO. GRANT TO RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown Borough Council was held last night. There were present: Mr A. W. Horton (Mayor), Councillors W. A. Tate, I. Blissett, A. Stuart, G. F. Eagar, H. Farley, F. Wood, H. C. Trotman, Mrs Balfour and Mr J. Kiernan (Town Clerk), A petition signed by thirty-one ratepayers who had paid the full dog registration fee and asking for a refund was read. The petitioners asked that they be charged the same fee as for rabbit dogs. On the motion of Councillor Tate, seconded by Councillor Wood, the petition was received. The Town Clerk was authorised tc write off £2B 2s Id penalties on rate:, disallowed by the Commission. Two closing orders were received from the Health Officer for premises in the Main Street. The council agreed to this action and instructed the Town Clerk to act accordingly. Applications were received from the Tennis and Croquet Clubs to have hedges trimmed and greens topdressed. It was decided • to do this work when labour was available. A framed photograph of a formei Mayor (Mr A. C. Bicknell) received. It was .decided that Mr Bicknell be thanked for the photograph anc that it be hung in the Council Chambers. It was decided to make a grant ol £1 Is to the Grey town branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association. Councillor Balfour reported that the name plates at the foot of the trees in the Memorial Park were getting broken and lost. It was left to the Park Committee to go into the question ol having these plates affixed to the trees.
