PROTEST TO JAPAN

The British Ambassador, Sir Robert Craigie, has protested to Japan against interference with the administration of the International Settlement of Kulangsu. BID FOR CONTROL. . JAPANESE IN AMOY. HONG KONG, May 15. Vice-Admiral Noble is proceeding to Amoy aboard H.M.S. Birmingham to investigate the occupation of the town by the Japanese. The Japanese are endeavouring to secure control of Amoy's international settlement. The Japanese Consul has requested the chairman of the municipality to increase the Japanese representation, to extend their voting rights to appoint a Japanese chief of police and chief secretary and to exercise stricter control over anti-Japanese elements.
