The “Izvestia” declares that the Anglo-Turkish agreement is a step towards the creation of an effective peace front to face the further extension of aggression. The newspaper adds: “The vital interests of Turkey make such a policy imperative. Turkey has long been an objective of the appetites of the aggressive countries, owing to her strategical importance as sovereign of the Black Sea and Straits. BRITISH TRIUMPH OPINION IN BULGARIA. BELGRADE, May 15. The first comment on the AngloTurkish pact, appearing in the semiofficial “Politika,”. points out that Turkey has abandoned the neutrality which has always been her policy and has finally lined up with the democracies. Official circles refer to this as a great triumph of British policy and say that it will have a decisive influence on the foreign policy of the Balkan States.
