ESCAPE & SEOUEL
FIVE BOVS ABSCOND FROM WERAROA SERIES OF OFFENCES REPORTED. TWO LADS CAUGHT IN TARANAKI. (By Telegraoh—Press Association.) LEVIN, This Day. Five boys absconded from the Weraroa Training Farm at about 6.15 o’clock on Saturday, night and their disappearance has been followed by a series of events which must be attributed to persons with little regard for other people’s property. A car belonging to Mr E. Webber, of Levin, shortly afterwards was reported missing. It was recovered in charge of two of the boys at Hawera yesterday. It is understood that the three other boys headed across country. The Poroutawhao Hall Was broken into and sugar and the contents of essence bottles were strewn over the floor, which was also littered with broken crockery. An unsuccessful attempt was made to start a car in a nearby garage. Subsequently it was reported that three bicycles were missing from Foxton last night. The Rev. Father Jensen’s light saloon car disappeared from the precincts of the St. Patrick's Church Presbytery, at Palmerston North. The three boys are still at large.
