Mr J. H. Fieldhouse, formerly of Mastertdn, and now of Napier, was a visitor to Masterton during the weekend. Mr William Machin, general manager of the New Zealand Farmers’ Cooperative Association of Canterbury, Ltd., since 1926, will retire toward the end of the year. The Town Clerk, Mr J. S. Neville, has now completed 38 years of service with the Christchurch City Council. For more than 15 years Mr Neville has been town clerk. He was first appointed to the council staff in 1901. Four Palmerston North bowlers Messrs J. Boniface, D. Morris, J. J. O’Shea and A. S. Bayliss—intend to compete in a world open bowls tournament to be held in connection with the exhibition in San Francisco from September 4 to 16. They will sail for San Francisco on August 8.
