CANADA’S RISE
DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIES. 41 ’ OTTAWA. The story of Canada’s rise from an agricultural and pastoral country to the front rank of industrial nations was told by a display of manufactured goods at the Empire Section of the British Industries Fair held in London and Birmingham from February 20 to March 3 this year. The display was prepared by the Canadian Government Exhibition Commission. A feature of special interest was the scale model of the Canadian Pavilion which is now being erected at New York for the World’s Fair, which will open on April 30. Individual displays by Canadian firms consisted mainly of cereals, can-ned-fruits and vegetables, table jellies and desserts, rye whiskey, rubber footwear and aprons, furs, fountain pens, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, portable buildings, floor 'polishers and typewriters.
