WAIRARAPA SHEEPOWNERS
meeting of federation. REARRANGEMENT OF DISTRICT BOUNDARIES. A meeting of the executive committee of the Wairarapa Sheepowners’ Federation was held yesterday in the A. and P. Rooms, Masterton, Mr A. McDonald presiding over a fair attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Sir William Perry and Mr R. F. R. Beetham. Delegates were present from the Hawke’s Bay Sheepowners’ Federation to discuss the question of boundaries between the two districts. After some discussion it was agreed . that the Hawke’s Bay district include the Pahiatua County and that the Wairarapa district take in the Eketahuna County to Makara inclusive. If it was later found that this arrangement was not suitable, the matter is to be revised by both bodies. A good deal of correspondence was dealt with. An invitation was received from the Wairarapa branch of the Farmers’ Union asking the president to attend the annual conference to be held in Masterton on May 25 and 26. This was accepted.
The president reported he had been co-operating with the Farmers’ Union on various matters and, he thought, with good results to both bodies. The Wairarapa district was the last in the Dominion to form a branch of the Sheepowners’ Federation, and in the six months since its formation had met with wonderful results in the number of sheepfarmers joining as members.
