A new diorama exhibit containing a habitat group of harrier hawks is at present being prepared at the Canterbury Meuseum. This is the fourth and largest of this type of modern exhibit to be constructed at the museum, and will be contained in a case sft high, 4f‘ 6in wide, and 4ft deep. A pair of hawks will be mounted as they might appear beside their nest in a swamp. An actual hawk’s nest, an untidy mass of stick and straw about 2ft square, will be used. The hen bird to be mounted was found beside this nest in the Waimakariri riverbed near Kirwee. The cock was found on a road where it had been run over.
