PRIMARY EDUCATION
CENTRAL SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The chairman, Mr J. E. MeV. Calwell presided at the monthly meeting of the Central School Committee, held last night. Others present were Messrs W. FL Nicol, A. V. Dixon, A. Gibb, A. Newman, J. H. Cole and C. J. Braggins. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Beecroft and Wesney. The financial statement submitted by the secretary was adopted and correspondence was dealt with. Owing to the school vacation no report was received from the headmaster. The balance sheet, as audited by the Education Board auditor, was adopted. Mr Braggins was instructed to attend to the matter of repairing or renewing a fire grate at the school. Messrs Gibb and Cole were requested to arrange with the caretaker of the Riverside Golf Links regarding the method of erecting a gate at the East School between the links and the school grounds, and also to obtain a quantity of lime for the trees at the school. Mr Braggins was also instructed to attend to certain other repairs needed. Messrs Calwell, Braggins and Beecroft were appointed visiting members.
