The Vatican City correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says it is officially stated that no peace conference will be held at the Vatican. An encyclical on peace is not contemplated and the Pope will not preside at any peace conference anywhere. The Holy See has not proposed mediation in any quarrel, but the Pope’s diplomatists are exercising persuasion on several governments for the maintenance of peace.
