> MR CHAMBERLAIN URGES EXPEDITION EFFECT ON EUROPEAN OPINION. TRAINING NOT TO BEGIN TILL JULY. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON. May 10. Mr Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, moving the timetable motion to expedite the passage of the Military Training Bill, said the proceedings were being watched closely in other quarters and anything appearing dilatory might be most discouraging to our European friends. Even if the Bill were passed according to timetable, the first militiamen could not begin training until the beginning of July. MEN FROM DOMINIONS DISCUSSION IN COMMITTEE. ULSTER AMENDMENT PASSED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, May 10. During the Committee discussion on the Military Training Bill amendment, excluding Northern Ireland, Mr W. J. Anstruther-Gray (Lab.) asked for an assurance that youths from Eire would not be permitted to work in the United Kingdom without military training. He urged that all Dominions’ youths should not be permitted to be employed in the United Kingdom unless they underwent military training here or in their own dominions. Lieut.-Commander P. C. Agnew said the amendment compelled Dominions’ men to register unless they could prove that they were not ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom. It should be clarified whether Dominions’ men coming for a three years’ professional course were obliged to register. The amendment was carried by 261 votes to 21, Ulster members opposing it.
