Lady Norwood, of Wellington, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs H. E. Pither, Lansdowne, returned to Wellington today.
Mr and Mrs James Begg, and Miss Elizabeth Begg, Dunedin, will visit Masterton next week for the wedding of Mr Alec Begg to Miss Madge Raine. The engagement is announced of Gladys Beatrice, fifth daughter of Mr and the late Mrs H. R. Davies, Rotherham, North Canterbury, to Dudley Mervyn, second son of Mr and the late Mrs J. Thompson, Taueru, Masterton. The engagement is announced of Phyllis Lydia, second daughter of the Rev and Mrs A. T. Thompson, of “Sherwood,” Masterton, and Henry Robert, younger son of Mrs Geddes and the late Mr S. W. Geddes, Dunedin. A very pleasant evening was spent recently at the home of Mr and Mrs T. F. Watson, Lansdowne, when friends and Solway Old Girls gathered to bid farewell to their daughter, Mrs M. Hopkins, who with her small son Donald, is leaving New Zealand shortly for Scotland. During, the evening Mrs Hopkins was presented with an exquisite piece of paua shell craft as a souvenir of New Zealand and best wishes were tendered her by all present for a very pleasant voyage. FEATHERSTON Mrs P. Wilton, South Featherston, has been visiting Christfchu’rth. Mrs H. R. Burt and family are Featherston visitors to Wellington. Mrs and Mrs J. Carne Bidwill have returned to their home after paying a brief visit to Wellington. Mrs F. J. Kean, of Masterton, is on a brief visit to Featherston and is the guest of Mrs H. McKenna, Wakefield Street. “- ■-Mrs C. Campbell, of Wanganui, accompanied by her two sons, lan and Donald, is visiting Featherston, and is staying with Miss Bessie Donald, Revans Street.
