WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

SOLWAY-MANAIA MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the Solway-Manaia Women’s Institute the members and visitors were welcomed by the president (Mrs Munn). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Alien, Scrivener, Cotton, Sutherland, McKenzie, Groombridge and Miss Billington. Mrs Henderson gave a much appreciated report on the recent Federation meeting. Following afternoon tea, Mrs Barrer gave a talk on the Pan-Pacific conference. This was received with marked interest. Mrs Barrer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Competition results were:—Sausage rolls: Mrs Woollett 1, Mrs Webber 2. Singlet: Mrs Crewe 1, Mrs Reynolds 2. Jellies: Mrs Comick. Flowers: Mrs Munn 1, Mrs Webber 2. The programme for June is: Sewing, sugar bag article; cooking, (1) eggless fruit cake, (2) cheese straws in ring: flowers, best geranium; roll call, suggestions for a programme.
