SOUTH PARK

CONTROL BY BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSED. SOCIETY’S ANNUAL REPORT. A proposal to ask the Masterton Borough Council to assume control of South Park is to be placed before the annual meeting of the South Park Society to be held in the Epiphany Hall tomorrow night. In the annual report for the year ending March 31, Mr W. White, president, states: —“The park is in good condition and all the apparatus is in good order. Some of the trees are showing the result of the very dry summer. Not much has been done during the year beyond asphalting around the swings, etc., and ordinary maintenance. The executive committee feels that the time has now arrived when the park should be handed over to the Borough Council, and is making this recommendation to the annual meeting. The citizens of Masterton are deeply 'indebted to Mr F. E. a. jßactliffe, our patron, for all that he has done in the interests of the South Park both financially, and in hard work, during the past 12 years. The society is also grateful to Mr Mabson for his valuable assistance, and the Press for the publicity it has always given to the doings of the committee. In conclusion, I as chairman, desire to thank the members of the committee for their help in many different ways.
