OBITUARY

MRS ANNE CONNOLLY. The death occurred in Masterton on Monday of Mrs Anne Connolly, aged 75 years. The late Mrs Connolly,' who had lived in Masterton for about 45 years, had been an invalid for the past few years. Of a quiet and retiring nature she had many sterling personal qualities and a sincerity of purpose which endeared her to all with whom she came in contact; Her husband predeceased her about ten months ago and she is survived by one sister in New Zealand, Mrs M. F. Griffin, Balmoral, Auckland, three nieces, Mrs Bertram Smith, Balmoral, Auckland, Mrs J. H. Hargreaves, Balmoral, Auckland, Miss Patricia Griffin, and one nephew, Mr F. J. Griffin, Rotorua, all of whom will mourn the loss of a dearly loved and respected relative. MR W. SIMPSON. Mr Walter Simpson died at the Greytown Hospital yesterday at the age of 53 years. The late Mr Simpson was born at Te Wharau. On the outbreak of war he enlisted with the 13th Reinforcements and served in the Rifle Brigade for the duration of the war. He was married at Bristol, England, and on his return to New Zealand for a short period in Te Pohue, Hawke’s Bay, and later settled in the Wairarapa at Hinakura, where he was employed as a surfaceman by the Featherston County Council. He is survived by a widow, seven sons and two daughters, besides several brothers and sisters. The funeral will leave St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, tomorrow, at the conclusion of a service to be held at 3.30 p.m., for the Masterton Cemetery. MR A. MEYHEW. The death occurred yesterday at the Masterton Hospital of Mr Arthur Meyhew, at the age of 43 years, The late Mr Meyhew who haa been an invalid for the past nine years, formerly followed the occupation of grocer and had resided in Masterton for many years. He was a member of the Masterton Odd Fellows' Lodge. He was born in Invercargill and is survived by a widow, two sons and a daughter. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the Chapel of Hyde's Funeral Service at 2 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
