Ottawa. —The quantity of fresh vegetables being preserved in Canada for use during the off-seasons is increasing yearly. So far these are packed mainly for the use of hotels and restaurants which are equipped with proper refrigeration. Steps are being taken to introduce these frozen vegetables to the general public by establishing freezing units in retail stores. The pack of frozen vegetables in Canada in 1938 increased to 590.000 pounds from 126,000 pounds in 1937.
