ATTACK BY AIR

BRITAIN’S STRONG DEFENCES UNPLEASANT JOB FOR ANY ENEMY. VICE-MARSHAL’S SURVEY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 6. Air Vice-Marshal Leigh-Mallory, in a speech said :“In view of the preparations we have made I' can say it will be an unpleasant job raiding this country. Though the enemy may send over very large numbers of aircraft, I believe that with the organisation we have the enemy’s effort would not last very long. It would be bound to crack up under the efficiency of our defensive system, and specially considering the conditions under which the enemy would carry out their raids. “We are definitely on the way to the point when to raid this country is not going to be worth while. I certainly should not care to fly as. an enemy bomber over this country in the face of our present defensive organisation.”
