MOTOR FATALITIES
FATHER AND DAUGHTER KILLED. COLLISION AT SWANNANOA. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 7. Father and daughter were killed and another man was. seriously injured in a collision this morning between two cars at an intersection at Swannanoa. William Holder, musterer, middleaged, of Oxford, died from severe head injuries five hours after admission to the Christchurch Public Hospital. His daughter, Rita Holder, aged 18, also of Oxford, died from head injuries on the way to the hospital. Lawrence Dailey, a married man, also of Oxford, driver of one car, is seriously ill in hospital with internal injuries. Mr Dailey was driving a five-seater saloon car, carrying .five other passengers from Oxford to Christchurch, and collided with the’ other car, driven by Mr Leslie McDonald, Swannanoa, who was the sole occupant. Mr Dailey’s car turned over several times after the impact. Mrs Florence Dailey and Miss Ina Campbell, both of' Oxford, passengers in Mr Dailey’s car, were not injured. Peter Rich, aged four, the remaining passenger, suffered head injuries. His condition is satisfactory. The party from Oxford was travelling to Christchurch to visit a relative of the Holders in hospital. TRUCK AND LORRY COLLIDE. LABOURER FATALLY INJURED. DUNEDIN, May 6. Albert George Williamson, aged 23, a farm labourer at Kyeburn, was fatally injured near Patearoa when a motor-truck he was driving collided with a lorry.
