BRITAIN’S POSITION
ONLY GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
OF EXCHANGE OF VIEWS. MR CHAMBERLAIN QUESTIONED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 4. Mr Chamberlain was asked in the House of Commons today if the terms of the proposals made by Germany to Poland relating to the Polish corridor and Danzig and Poland’s intended reply to them were known to Britain before the recent guarantee was offered to Poland. Mr Chamberlain replied: “The Government was of course aware of the general subjects on which an exchange of views had been taking place between the two Governments and of the attitude that each Government was disposed to adopt. “An official account of the German proposal and the Polish counter-pro-posals has so far been made public by one side only. I understand that Colonel Beck, Polish Foreign Minister, is likely to make some further public pronouncement on these matters in the course, of his speech tomorrow.”
