News of the publication in London of a Bible in verse has brought to light the fact that a resident of Napier, the Rev. A. T. Thompson, M.A., 8.D.. of Napier Presbyterian Church, and formerly of Masterton. is also engaged on the task of preparing a Bible in verse, though in this case an effort is being made to bring the stories of the Bible to such a simple precis that it may. be used more for the benefit of children than for adlut's. The author for the past 14 years has been Commonwealth secretary to the British and Foreign Bible Society, a position which he has had to relinquish because of illhealth. He was the founder of St Andrew's College, Christchurch. 21 years ago.
