FEILDING SALE. VERY LOW LEVEL IN VALUES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, May 5. The very low level in values which ruled at the Feilding stock sale held today had been expected, the uncertainty facing the farming industry having effectively stopped free and open bidding. Most of the cattle yarded showed the effect of the food shortage resulting from the drought, though some lines were good, conditioned. There was little sale for grown cattle and young lines were cheap. Sheep did not show any change in price, except that fat wethers declined further, the drop being from Is 6d to 2s a head. Beef was priced at about £1 a 1001 b for best lines and 15s for unfinished sorts, these being .lower than last week’s prices. Quotations are: — Prime lambs, 16s to 17s, second grade, 14s to 15s, unfinished, to 13s; extra prime wethers, 17s to 18s, lighter 15s to 16s, unfinished, 13s 6d to 14s 7d; prime b.f. two-tooths 21s 6d; best fat ewes, 19s, good 16s to 16s 6d, fair condition 13s 9d to 14s sd; good ewe lambs, 14s 6d to 16s, smaller 13s, backward, 6s Id to 9s 3d; wether lambs, good 12s lOd, fair sorts, 9s 7d, others 4s lOd to 6s 8d; b.f. lambs, 10s Id; m.a. ewes f.w. Southdown rains, 8s 6d; fiveyear ewes, good 11s to 13s 7d, 10W conditioned, 7s 6d to 9s 2d. Ltd., report as follow: —We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday when a fair yarding came forward; sheep met a weak market, nevertheless, vendors met the market. Some of the better class hoggets looked good buying. Springing heifers were in keen demand and made very good values. Store Cows were easier. Pigs sold at late rates. Quotations: — Sheep: fat ewes, 9s lOd to 13s sd; ewes r.w.
